Exploring the Association Between Loneliness, Subjective Cognitive Decline, and Quality of Life Among Older Thai Adults: A Convergent Parallel Mixed-Method StudyExamining the rising prevalence of subjective cognitive decline as an early indicator of dementia in adults, this study investigates its complex interaction with loneliness and quality of life in individuals with preclinical dementia. Using a convergent parallel mixed-method approach, we employed Structural Equation Modeling on a cohort of 149 older adults. Qualitative insights were derived from focused group discussions and in-depth semi-structured interviews with a cohort of 23 older adults. Loneliness emerges as a pivotal contributor, exerting a discernible partial indirect effect on quality of life through subjective cognitive decline (indirect effect = −0.145, p = .006). Noteworthy differentials surfaced, with the impact of subjective cognitive decline on quality of life heightened in those with chronic diseases (△χ2 = 6.139, p = .013). Loneliness, wielding a palpable impact, intricately interlaces with quality of life, the nexus of which is in อ่านเพิ่มเติม...

The effectiveness of developing a mobile application for the self-assessment and prevention of dementia in at-risk elderly individualsThe objectives of this research and innovation development were to develop and examine the effects of a mobile application for self-assessment and prevention of dementia in at-risk elderly individuals in Bang Len Subdistrict, Song Phi Nong District, Suphan Buri Province. Participants included 35 elderly individuals at risk of developing dementia. The research instrument was a mobile application for dementia prevention. Data collection tools included an effectiveness assessment form and a satisfaction assessment form for the mobile application. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean and standard deviation. The results showed that the mobile application for dementia prevention, which consisted of two parts: self-assessment of cognitive function and self-rehabilitation to prevent dementia, including brain exercises, concentration training, brain-boosting diets, brain development based on the 4-step principle, creating a good environment, and brain training ga อ่านเพิ่มเติม...

External Factors Confronting Elderly Day Care in The Aftermath of The Covid-19 Crisis in Bangkok, ThailandThe study aimed to investigate at the external factors affecting elderly day care centers after COVID-19 crisis in Bangkok, Thailand. The research method used was qualitative research, which included a review of the literature and in-depth interviews with three groups of stakeholders in Bangkok: two officers from the government sector, two elderly day care center owners and three caregivers from the private sector and three elderlies and two family members from the community sector. The semi-structured interview questions were open-ended and validated by two experts. The researcher then utilized the content analysis, case study research and PESTLE analysis techniques to examine the factor. Results showed the three perspectives (the government sector, the private sector, and the community sector). The factors that impact elderly care centers vary among different groups of individuals, with the government and private sectors having contrasting approaches. The government has implemented v อ่านเพิ่มเติม...

A Randomized Controlled Trial of Cultural-Moderate Intensity Physical Activity Program on Cognition Among Older Adults With Subjective Cognitive DeclineBackground: The high prevalence of subjective cognitive decline (SCD) among older adults is concerning. Evidence on the effects of moderate physical activity (PA) to delay cognitive impairment for older adults in Thailand remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of the Cultural-Moderate Intensity PA Program on cognition in older adults with SCD. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted. Participants were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (n = 32) or the control group (n = 32). The experimental group participated in a bi-weekly, 14-session Cultural-Moderate Intensity PA Program, while the control group received an educational exercise program as usual care. Measures included the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF), Cognitive Failures Questionnaire (CFQ), and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) to assess daily PA levels, cognitive lapses, and cognitive functioning, respectively. Outcomes were analyzed using an อ่านเพิ่มเติม...
The Association Between Psychosocial Factors, Physical Activity, Mild Behavioral Impairment, Subjective Cognitive Decline, Quality of Life, and Cognition, in Older Adults with Preclinical Dementia Using Structural Equation ModelingExamining factors that could delay or prevent cognitive impairment in older adults is crucial. This study investigates the factors recommended by the biopsychosocial model, including physical activity, quality of life, early signs of dementia (mild behavioral impairment and subjective cognitive decline), and cognition in individuals with preclinical dementia. A structural equation model was employed with a cohort of 410 participants to analyze these relationships. The findings indicate that perceived stress and social support contribute to increased mild behavioral impairment, which subsequently affects cognition directly. Quality of life shows an association with subjective cognitive decline but not with mild behavioral impairment. Mediation analysis reveals that the relationship between perceived stress (indirect effect = -0.244) and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (indirect effect = 0.08) with cognition is mediated by mild behavioral impairment. Furthermore, a statist อ่านเพิ่มเติม...
